Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), the region’s largest arbitral institution, has announced a collaboration with the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC), headquartered in Hyderabad, India, aimed at enhancing international cooperation in dispute resolution.
The MOU signing ceremony was held at the DIAC headquarters, symbolising the commitment of both organisations to advancing collaborative efforts in the field of international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
In line with DIAC’s strategy launched in early 2023, this signing represents DIAC’s vision to make Dubai the global destination for dispute resolution. Commenting on the signing, Jehad Kazim, Executive Director of DIAC, said: “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our mission to transform Dubai into a global hub for dispute resolution, highlighting our commitment to revolutionising and supporting the arbitration landscape, nurturing a culture of efficiency and fairness in resolving international commercial disputes, while also reflecting DIAC’s commitment to supporting the Indian arbitration ecosystem, fostering increased collaboration between UAE and India, and aligning with developments such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation.”
The MOU signing event was attended by key leadership within DIAC, Jehad Kazim, Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Director; Thomas R. Snider, Member of the Board of Directors; Mohammed Rashed Alsuwaidi, Member of the Arbitration Court; and Robert Stephen, Registrar, alongside representatives from IAMC, including Hon’ble Mr. Justice L. Nageswara Rao, Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India and IAMC Trustee, Tariq Khan, Registrar, and Mr. Vikram Pooserla, Senior Advocate and Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of YIAMC.
